Shush in Khuzestan Province is one of the oldest cities in Iran. Shush is a city with dry and warm climate and experiences extremely hot summers with temperatures often rising above 53 degrees centigrade. According to historical books, Shush (Susa) was one of the most famous cities in the ancient world and has been the capital of the rule of Elam (Ilam) for several thousand years. On the other hand, Susa was also the winter capital of the Achaemenid Empire. The city is one of the oldest known human settlements in the world.The monuments such as Apadana palace, Shush castle, the tomb of Daniel, Haft Tappeh and Choqa Zanbil, as well as the natural attractions like the forest of Qaleh Nasir, will surprise every visitor. Kapobafi is one of the special and indigenous handicrafts of Susa. “Capo” is made by twisting the young stems of the palm around the stems of the cortex. Colorful yarns are wrapped around the capes and placed together in a special order to make beautiful dishes. The women of this region make all kinds of hats and hand-made windmills by weaving mats and capo weaving. Marquetry is another famous handicraft of the people of Susa. Arc saws, along with large and small pieces of wood, create works that obliterate any viewer.
